Clearway provides boarding up services that secure vacant properties with durable materials to prevent unauthorised access and environmental damage. A boarding up service involves covering a building’s windows and doors with materials like plywood or steel sheets to prevent unauthorised access and protect against environmental damage, squatters and theft.
Damage to windows and doors through criminal damage or break-ins creates a highly visible vulnerability, so emergency boarding up services keep your premises safe from intruders.

Clearway provides boarding up services that secure vacant properties with steel screens to prevent unauthorised access and environmental damage. A boarding up service involves covering a building’s windows and doors with materials like plywood or steel sheets to prevent unauthorised access and protect against environmental damage, squatters and theft.
Our steel security screens and metal security doors are recommended and used in police scenarios, so you can be sure that our solution will protect your property from any unauthorised entry.
Boarding is also available on a longer-term basis for empty sites, giving you peace of mind that your property is well protected.
Key Benefits of Emergency Window Boarding

Need to Board Up a Property Urgently?
Whether you’ve had a break-in, vandalism or fire, or a property has suddenly become vacant, we can react quickly to secure your property and prevent further issues.

Commercial Buildings
Offices, industrial units and warehouses often require immediate boarding following issues related to criminal damage and accidental breakages, or while waiting for repair work, ensuring their assets remain protected.

Vacant Properties
Landlords, developers and housing associations rely on emergency boarding when they need to secure empty buildings against theft, vandalism, squatting and damage.

Retail Units
Smashed shop front glazing, whether accidental or deliberate, can put stores at serious risk, especially if stock is clearly on display. Emergency boarding ensures glass is covered until it can be permanently repaired or replaced.

Construction Sites
Partially completed buildings routinely require boarding before glazing is fitted, protecting new builds from intrusions and weather damage until the work is complete.

Public Sector Buildings
Schools, healthcare facilities, local authority buildings and community centres often require boarding-up security following damage or break-ins to protect staff and assets.

Insurance and Loss Adjustors
Following fires, floods, vehicle impacts or break-ins, emergency boarding helps insurers secure damaged properties immediately while assessments, investigations and reinstatement works are organised.

Our engineers work quickly to secure broken windows and doors before properties become vulnerable to further theft, vandalism or weather damage.
Depending on the property and level of risk, we can install timber boarding, steel security screens or temporary steel security doors.
We secure residential homes, commercial premises, industrial buildings, retail units, schools and vacant developments.
Boarding helps prevent unauthorised entry, criminal damage, fly-tipping, squatting and further deterioration following an incident.
Wherever possible, our boarding methods minimise unnecessary damage while ensuring windows and entrances remain securely protected.
Emergency boarding can remain in place until permanent repairs are completed or be incorporated into longer-term vacant property security plans.
Boarding can be combined with CCTV, wireless intruder alarms, security doors, inspections and guarding services for layered protection.
Our installation teams operate across the UK and can often respond rapidly where urgent boarding is required.

From Call to Hire, getting your site secured is straightforward
Get in touch with our team as soon as damage occurs. We’ll discuss the property, the extent of the damage and any immediate security concerns.
Our engineers assess vulnerable windows, doors and access points before recommending the most appropriate boarding solution.
Boards, steel security screens or temporary security doors are installed quickly using secure fixing methods designed to protect the property.
Where appropriate, we can recommend CCTV, wireless alarms, vacant property inspections or security guarding to provide enhanced protection.
Once permanent glazing or repairs have been completed, we can safely remove temporary boarding or replace it with longer-term security measures if required.

Whether you’re dealing with emergency security threats or want to be proactive about protecting an empty property, there are lots of scenarios when boarding up may be useful.
Broken windows or forced doors leave buildings exposed to repeat problems. Emergency boarding restores physical security quickly while permanent repairs are arranged
Glazing repairs can sometimes take days or weeks. Temporary boarding keeps the property secure throughout this period.
Empty buildings quickly become attractive targets. Boarding removes easy access points and acts as a visible deterrent against opportunistic crime.
Storms, fallen trees or accidental impacts can leave windows unsafe. Boarding protects interiors from further weather damage until repairs are completed.
Many insurers expect customers to take reasonable steps to secure damaged buildings following an incident. Professional boarding demonstrates that those precautions have been taken.
Unexpected tenant departures, eviction proceedings or emergency closures can leave buildings exposed. Boarding provides immediate protection while longer-term security arrangements are put in place.
Property managers and landlords often need a dependable provider capable of securing several premises quickly following incidents across different locations.
Boarding works best alongside CCTV, alarms, inspections and steel security screens, creating a comprehensive security solution that protects vacant properties from multiple risks.
Boarding up can pre-empt a wide range of potential security issues, while ensuring you have the peace of mind that your property is protected from intrusions and compliant with the terms of your insurance cover.

Clearway provides a rapid response boarding up service to protect both commercial and residential properties across the UK.
Clearway offers a range of boards, screens and security doors, which are fitted by our professional team to ensure there is no damage to the framework and that panels are cut to fit. Combined with services such as alarm systems, security guards, dog patrols and security monitoring, boarding up an empty site is a visible deterrent and a critical factor in preventing unwanted access.
Clearway’s steel security screens are engineered from a single zinc-coated, perforated sheet of high-quality steel, which is fabricated into a box shape. The steel is folded to form a rigid box shape. These prefabricated screens are installed on the exterior of the property, completely covering each window and frame.
The Clearway Keyless Toreadoor has been designed, manufactured, and tested to the stringent LPS1175 standard. It’s one of the only doors that has gained Police and Insurance approval and includes keyless access with a unique 5-digit code. It has a unique independent locking mechanism, hinges that cannot be removed by cutting and ensures easy and rapid exit – you can never be locked in.
Tough metal window screens are fixed to the property with tamper-proof bolts, while the screen sits inside a steel frame, which ensures there is minimal or zero damage to the existing frame or brickwork.

Clearway supports diverse sectors requiring rapid security deployment. Our clients include construction companies, property developers, event organisers, and facility managers who need reliable surveillance solutions. We’re trusted by:

Our UK Sales Director, Gideon Reichental, explains the importance of Emergency Window Boarding Up Services.
Emergency boarding is often perceived as the fastest way to cover broken glass, but it’s also highly relevant in situations where vacant or otherwise vulnerable properties could become the target of further theft, vandalism or squatting if security isn’t restored.
The faster exposed windows and doors are secured, the better owners can prevent damage while they organise permanent repairs.

Vacant properties carry variable risk levels, and so mitigating any potential for unauthorised access is essential. Unsecure entry points can give easy access to empty premises, with the most commonly reported crimes including squatting, arson, vandalism and theft. This impacts both short- and long-term empty sites, which might be targeted for their contents, copper wiring, or roof tiles, as examples.
Boarding up makes a vacant premise unattractive to criminals, with physical barriers and screens over doors and windows, secured to the building with anti-tamper security screws.
We can offer two options on the cost of Sitex steel security shutters and temporary steel doors: a daily hire agreement or a one-off Advanced Rental cost.
Daily hire is cheaper if the property is likely to be vacant for a relatively short period. This is invoiced monthly and offers the lowest upfront cost. After a minimum hire period, the daily rental means that you only pay for security when you need it.
Advanced Rental gives peace of mind that costs are fixed for the duration the site is vacant. This one-off cost includes installation and free removal of the security equipment when it is no longer required.
Cost varies depending upon the number and size of vulnerable openings and access doors.
Installation of emergency steel anti-vandal security sheets is normally completed the same day except on very large properties.
Each opening is bespoke and cut to size on site to fit within the reveal or to completely overlap the opening. Normally, a couple of hours is sufficient to make the property secure.
Clearway knows that any vulnerable property must be protected as soon as possible to avoid vandalism, theft or squatting. We aim to be on site the next working day if possible, and sometimes we can secure the property the same day.
Our unique anti-tamper fixings do need to be drilled into window frames or adjacent brickwork. The resulting holes can be filled by others.
As a result, we try to avoid installation into PVCu or Aluminium window frames as this affects warranties and water ingress. We can install internally or potentially remove glazing to install modular steel screens; however, this can cause a longer lead time.
