Assets Link

Highways & Transport

We recognised the synergies between mainstream security and the highway and transport sectors’ delivery requirements, not least the value of the assets we’re all looking to protect – people, property and assets. This led to the creation of our dedicated Highways & Transport Division.

Highways and rail
Highways and rail

Our work with clients such as National Highways, Eurovia, Balfour Beatty, Kier and Core Highways Group has proven where we can provide enhanced support on highways and wider transport related projects for contractors and transport authorities.

We are committed to increasing and maintaining the safety of those working on the highway and transport networks, including in compounds and depots, whilst at the same time looking at how technology can be used to reduce human interaction with highway and transport assets.

Our technology is regularly used as an active safety measure, whether that be monitoring in temporary traffic management or on fixed infrastructure.

We are proud to be members of The Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG)

The Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) plays a key role in providing a vital link between central and local government, and the wider highways community, to ensure ongoing improvements in the roads sector.

Stopped vehicle detection with Clearway inView CCTV Technology Tower

inView Highway Technology Tower

The Clearway solar-powered inView Highway Technology Tower can provide CCTV, Video Analytics & Artificial Intelligence, Stopped Vehicle Detection, Air Quality Monitoring, Alarm Systems and ANPR and can be rapidly deployed and located on site. Remote configuration and monitoring takes away the dangers of having operatives in live carriageways whilst our remote 4G connectivity also removes the necessity for civil engineering dependent fibre cabled inductive loops for detection requirements.

PPE Protection

PPE Monitoring and Compliance

Protect your teams and reduce your liability with an automated AI powered edge and cloud-based solution that enables PPE compliance.

Automated AI powered edge and cloud-based PPE detection solution which can be deployed with our range of rapidly deployable Technology Towers or via clients’ existing IP CCTV systems.

Understand Health and Safety breaches and detect risks with real-time detection and notification to our cloud-based analytics platform which can provide statistics, automated email notifications and near miss reporting accompanied by snapshots of the non-compliant wearing of hard hats, hi-visibility trousers or hi-visibility vest or jackets.

The system can easily be tailored to monitor the minimum PPE requirements of a specific site, whether that is full PPE or just hard hat and jackets only. Detection zones can also be implemented to mitigate false positive alerts for areas where PPE is not required.

On the highways network, National Highways recorded 188 incursions into traffic management through its internal reporting system – now known as HART – in the month of February 2022 alone, according to Safer Highways.

National Highways statistics show that the majority of incursions have occurred on major projects, many of which are involved in heavily urban areas such around cities (Birmingham, Manchester and London), both of which are long established hot spots due to the convergence of a number of SRN roads.

Clearway inSite wearable safety devices

inSite Wearable Safety Devices

Clearway’s innovative, new wearable technology to help protect those working in high risk / volatile environments.

Current ‘bodycam’ solutions mean you need different devices for various activities, Clearway has amalgamated these into one piece of equipment for the operative/lone worker in either the form of a body cam or for some use cases the device simply attaches to a workers hard hat – ‘helmet cam’.

Reducing roadworker exposure has been a real focus area across highway networks over the last few years, given the ever-increasing complexity of infrastructure projects and the unfortunate increase in roadworker abuse. Many network operators are turning to body cam technology to record these incidents and help with remote support for engineers on the ground.

Why inSite Wearable Safety Devices?

  • Deters and de-escalates threatening / aggressive behaviour towards staff
  • Provides evidence via high quality video to support investigations and prosecutions
  • Reduces false allegations and unjustified complaints against workers
  • Record footage in areas not monitored by existing CCTV
  • Footage can be used for training to further understand behaviours and security risks
AI Powered littering detection from Clearway

AI Powered Littering Detection Solution

The Clearway inView Highway Technology Tower can harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor, detect and record instances of littering from both moving and stationery vehicles.

The system will generate and send an ‘Alert Package’ with the captured vehicle registration plate and recorded footage of the incident to a remote monitoring station, an enforcement control room or to any pre-determined recipient.

Clearway mobile solar CCTV tower

CCTV

Not only do we provide ‘live on-network services’, we also provide compound and site solutions through connection to multiple remote sensors placed around sites of almost any size. The Clearway system will detect movement and instruct the mast-mounted camera to rotate, zoom, focus and live-record any event.

We can offer ANPR site access and live audio communication to our Monitoring Station for authorised vehicles and for those unwelcome visitors we offer full analytics, capturing and reporting of:

  • Intruders
  • Sabotage
  • Combination of rules
  • Vehicles
  • Loitering behaviour
  • Entry / Exit of scene
  • Appearance / disappearance
ARC Monitoring

NSI Gold Monitoring Station

At Clearway we have our own high security, 24/7 CCTV Monitoring Station which provides complete peace of mind to all of our clients.

This facility removes the headache, expense, and duplication of energies in providing facilities and staffing on projects where temporary monitoring and detection is required. On their behalf we are licensed to monitor, react to alerts, and deal directly with incidents whilst operating a professional and transparent service to the highest recognised and audited standards in the UK.

Stopped vehicle Detection (SVD) from Clearway

Stopped Vehicle Detection

Utilising our leading CCTV technology mounted on the tower, Clearway can deliver a video-based Stopped Vehicle Detection (SVD) solution providing near immediate alerts for incidents, directly to our permanent NSI Gold Monitoring Station.

The cost savings are high as the client no longer needs to rely
on employing multiple CCTV operators practising a ‘search and find’ process for incident detection across their network. Our algorithms are constantly monitoring the image feeds across the network and will provide an immediate alert as a vehicle comes to a stop, meaning that the central monitoring station will deal with live incidents as they occur.

Live feeds for general surveillance are achieved simultaneously with the alerting system with the ability to deliver stills/live feed to the National Traffic Operations Centre and/or regional control centres.

Incursion Monitoring & Detection

Incursion Monitoring & Detection

Clearway’s incursion monitoring and detection system harnesses the power of AI technology to alert road workers to any potential incursion by errant vehicles so they can take immediate and appropriate action to protect themselves, their colleagues and the general public.

Air Quality Monitoring

Air Quality Monitoring

To assist our wide range of clients, we offer an out-of-the-box solution for urban air quality monitoring, using our existing solar powered InView Technology Tower.

InViro meets the challenge of remotely capturing accurate data in multiple locations in variable climate conditions and the need for fine grained air quality monitoring networks.

The Clearway InViro Air Quality Monitoring System is the latest in smart environmental technology. Data is easily collected, can be CCTV analysed, and shared to assist in creating safer places for us all to live, work and play.

concrete barrier blocks from Clearway
