Commercial Mechanic and Fleet Manager

This is excellent opportunity to join an established company with a fleet of over 25 vehicles. The majority of the fleet is new or under 3 years and we mainly operate Mercedes Sprinter’s. Most of the repairs are carried out by a main dealer but general servicing and repairs are carried out at our depot in Erith.

It is important that the applicant is well organised as all vehicles are subject to routine maintenance and MOTs, and quarterly Ministry checks so it is essential that the candidate has experience not only mechanical but also of fleet management.

The mechanical/fleet element of this role is not in itself full time so we would like to extend the position to include some depot management which would entail making sure the premises and yard are well organised and safe, carrying out basic maintenance etc to common areas.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all vehicles are maintained, taxed and MOT as well as organising any vehicle replacements.
  • To maintain and repair basic plant ie chain saws, generators, strimmers etc.
  • Maintain the schedule and delivery of all Clearway owned and rented equipment, tools etc.
  • Assisting with the loading of equipment onto vehicles when required.

  • Good mechanical knowledge and understanding to enable the management and maintenance of a modern fleet of vehicles.
  • Work on own initiative and have a strong work ethic.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Good standard of education and be able to document progress.
  • Be self-motivated, have good time management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.

  • Be self-confident to make the role their own and take responsibility for it.
